Arizona – Tempe

Tempe, located south of Phoenix, is home to Arizona State University. It is the fifth-largest university in the United States. The city centre, located right next to the university, is a mix of restaurants, shops and historic buildings.

One of the biggest attractions not far from Tempe is the Town Lake. The lake, created in the Salt River, is 3.5 km long. Here you can go on boat tours or rent boats. Smaller events often take place on the adjacent meadows around the lake.

In addition to a visit to the city center with many historic buildings, the interesting museums on the ASU campus are an absolute must. You will find the ASU Art Museum in the Nelson Fine Art Center. Contemporary North and South American art, as well as handicrafts and sculptures, are on display here. The campus is home to important research centers such as the Museum of Anthropology, the Geology Museum, the ASU Planetarium, the Center for Meteoric Studies, and a few more. Papago Park, which is particularly appreciated for its attractions and great recreational value, is immediately adjacent to the cities of Tempe, Phoenix and Scottsdale. The Desert Botanical Garden has a 2.4 km nature trail where you can learn about thousands of cacti and other plants of the desert.
