South Africa – Impressions

Our journey to the Ngala Lodge led us directly and many kilometers through the rough bush.

Some deep blow and sand holes almost knocked us off the axis. Actually, this was an ideal way for a Land Rover ………

Unfortunately, the Landy we booked was no longer available and the landlord believed we were doing us a favor with a Daimler. We have pointed out our route into the bush and the difficult terrain.

He gave us a license. Thank God, because on the way back the terrain was almost impassable due to a storm with meters deep water fords and mud holes.

The only chance to get out of the area was to let the accelerator down ……………… such a difficult off-road tour was too much for a Daimler.

Time and again we meet on our journey slums and slums that belong to the reality of the country. Particularly dramatic were the slums in the suburbs of Johannesburg. It is advisable not to stop on the streets, not even if allegedly stopped vehicles with locals (which has happened to us several times) ask for help. The street robbery is a big problem in the slums.

Some signs are unmistakable …………….. and often end in a field or in the middle of a rough bush. Then good advice is expensive, it is best to drive back to the starting point, if you still find it …. The right way to find without a navigation system in the bush is not so easy.

Roads are simply turned down or they lead to a dead end ……….. and if you have lost your way hopelessly, the mobile phone does not use anything anyway, as there are no transmitting stations in the bush …. ..

………………………………….. then at most helps ….. ………..drums!!!!!
