Galapagos – penguins
The penguins are one of the funniest people on the Galapagos Islands. They are always happy, in a good mood and constantly in motion with their short wavering steps. Penguins at the equator? This is also available in Galápagos. They are with 33 cm body size the smallest and northernmost of all penguin species, and breed only when the water is cold enough. Mostly they are under shady lava jumps to protect themselves from the sun.
Penguins are agile swimmers and divers and feed on small fish and crabs. During breeding season the females lay one or two eggs in small rock caves. A parent constantly watches over the clutch while the partner is foraging.
